Hung, Drawn & Quartered

Today was the touristy day in London. We caught the train to Waterloo then walked over Westminster Bridge. We looked at Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and down Whitehall past the Horse Guards. Then we continued on to Westminster Abbey.

Then we caught the tube over to the Tower of London. Went through the Tower sights and got great photos of Tower Bridge.

Myfanwy took us to St Katharine Docks to eat lunch at the Charles Dickens Inn.

After lunch of fish and chips, we climbed the Monument - 311 steps - to get a great view over London. The Monument was built after the Great Fire.

Then we caught the No 15 bus down to St Pauls. Paul was hoping to catch a Routemaster bus but we got a more modern one.

We walked around St Pauls and Paul was delighted to come across Lord Nelsons tomb.

After a quick cuppa and cake in the Crypt Cafe, we then went on a walking tour of the rest of the sites - Leicester Square, Convent Garden, Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus. We then did a quick shop in TopShop - all 5 floors....that is where our nephew Liam works so he was able to give us a discount. We said good bye to Myfanwy and then caught the tube with Liam to Bank where we met my friend Stuart (I worked with him on the Sydney Olympic Games). Stuart then took us to his private club where we had a great evening of cocktails, beers and yes, of course, as it always happens with Stuart - shots.

We managed to get the last train back to Staines and crawl into bed at Myfanwy and Johns house....
